Roose Guesthouse

Open all year round, Roose Guesthouse is a renovated old barn with fieldstone walls, a new thatched roof and several large windows. The house was named after its one-time owner, grandmother Roose.

The best features of the appearance of Roose country house are the large boulders, which the hands of our forefathers built into strong walls. In some rooms the boulders are left for the eye to see, in others they are covered in white lime plaster.

Unexpectedly large windows create an impressive contrast with the thick walls. Glass and stone are complimented by wood and sea reed, the first being a cosy warm floorboard under your feet, the latter protecting you from rain and snow on the roof.

As it is common on Hiiumaa, junipers and sheep on the pasture right next to thehouse and the sea splashing outside our door contribute to the style of the guesthouse.
