Valipe

Cottage lies in Valipe village. You can get there when turning on to the small village road on the crossroad of Suuremõisa-Käina and Kärdla, 5 kilometers from the harbour. Driving the village road for 2 km you will find an old farmhouse surrounded by alvar and junipers. It was a dwelling of a not so rich man, with a house and other buildings built on a slightly higher place of surrounding limestone soil.

We have tried to restore this farm fitting in the surrounding arid and bouldered landscape so compatibly.From the window you can see remains of ancient Valipe hillfort 700 meters away surrounded by depopulated and bare Sarve alvars. Closest neighbours live 400 meters away.

The main house of the holiday cottage is standing on the old foundation of the old farmhouse, but is itself completely new. To achieve the comfort of modern day We have used together contemporary solutions with traditional materials and principles. All rooms lie on the first floor. As traditional the roof is made from straw, floors from limestone and the walls are daubed.

We offer various ways of active vacation. Firstly we suggest to go discovering the Pühalepa parish by foot or by bicycle. Suuremõisa castle is 2 km away when taking a shortcut. When hiking on the alvars and nearby villages you might need a little sense of orientation, but no need to be afraid that the road might end in middle of nowhere. In May you can also go catching garfish or make a trip to the islets.
